Sensei Joel Levy M.Ed. and Sensei Yvonne Levy have known each other since they were Sunday school classmates from kindergarten through eighth grade. Losing touch during high school and college, the two were reunited when in their twenties, and were later married in Highland Park, NJ. Mr. and Mrs. Levy now live in Highland Park, where they raise their three children, Rachel, Shoshana, and Moshe.

Both starting their careers as public school teachers in NJ, Joel and Yvonne Levy founded Family Martial Arts Academy in Highland Park, NJ in 1997. Joel had been a lifetime martial artist, and Yvonne began studying under her now husband in 1994. The Academy has since grown into a full time school, and they have both left their careers as teachers to run the dojo full time. Combining their passions for education and martial arts, Senseis Joel and Yvonne Levy have been nationally recognized for excellence in the fields of martial arts, personal safety, character education, and community service.
