• Before I started at the dojo my blood pressure was really out of control. The doctor had put me on Toprol the lowest dose of 50 mg however I hate taking medicine. I just figured that if I commit my self to vigorous exercise and cut out coffee I could bring my blood pressure down. Well there was a medic at my workplace this morning and I asked her to take my blood pressure its 120/80 the best it ever was. Ok give me a power clap. • Family Martial Arts Academy is to me one of the few places where color or creed doesn't matter. All who enter are treated with respect and kindness. Its awesome to see the growth of the students from one sash rank or belt ranking to the next one. With each rank the student exhibits more and more discipline and a growth in technique and ability. • Karate is a great teacher (as are all the instructors and instructors in training!) The two most practical things I have learned are 1) patience is absolutely necessary for progress 2) Indecision, like fear do make your feet stick to the ground leaving you open for a knockout! These are general principles applicable to life in general. I have become more conscious and strong willed and I feel I am becoming a martial artist. It's a great exercise for spirit and mind and it supplements dancing via rhythm of movement and breathing inherent in it.
