FMAA's Black Belt Principles
- Responsibility to use martial arts as a vehicle for personal development,
and not for selfish gain.
- Self-discipline to control our thoughts, our actions, and our speech.
- To set goals, both inside and outside Karate, and follow definite plans to achieve them.
- Commitment to “the way of constant and never-ending improvement.”
- Cultivation of positive energy through a positive mental attitude.
Achieving Black Belt Excellence
Students are evaluated on the following five points
when promoting from stripe to stripe, and belt to belt:
- Attendance
- Attitude
- Ability
- Effort
- Enthusiasm
Karate Class Affirmations
Before class Karate affirmations:
- This is a black belt school.
- We are respectful.
- We are responsible.
- We have self-discipline.
- We are focused and ready to train, Sir!
After class Karate affirmations:
- This is a black belt school.
- We are physically fit.
- We are self-confident.
- We can defend ourselves if we have to.
- Strong Body, Strong Mind, Strong Spirit, Sir!
- “Thank you, class.”
- Thank you, sir.
- “Attention, courtesy, Oss!”
