Why should our administration be interested in the Bully Buster System™?
On an administrative level it puts your school in compliance with the federal mandate to have a bullying education and prevention program in place. In addition, it meets the needs for violence prevention, character education, and self-esteem building. Furthermore, the program incorporates education across the curriculum as follow-up materials and ready-made lesson plans will be provided for every teacher in the school.
-
How will our students benefit?
On the student and school climate level, there will be more awareness of what bullying is and where it comes from, as well as its lasting effects. This will serve to make everyone in the school more sensitive to its presence. Most importantly it provides students with real strategies with which to be proactive when a bullying situation is taking place. This will help them overcome their instinctive fight or flight response allowing them to keep a cool head and walk away from the situation peacefully. While most schools have mediation programs to deal with conflict after it occurs, this program will teach students what to do when conflict is going on. Kids need both: strategies for now and mediation for the long term. We provide the strategies for now.
-
What ages do you typically work with?
The Bully Buster System™ has been proven very effective with students from age seven through thirteen, which typically includes grades two through eight.
-
How many students do you take at a time?
The ideal sized assembly is 100-150 students which usually consists of one grade level and lasts fifty minutes. While these numbers serve as a guide, we can be flexible according to your needs. We can also do in-class workshops.
-
Are there any books you can recommend to follow up this program?
Yes. We strongly recommend that each classroom have a copy of Dr. Terrance Webster-Doyle's award winning children's book, Why Is Everybody Always Picking On Me?: A Guide To Handling Bullies. We also recommend his book, , which deals with the causes of racism, one of the ugliest type of bullying.
-
What about our bilingual population?
We can do a separate presentation of the Bully Buster System™ for your Spanish Bilingual students.

How will I pay for this program?
Please see our section on "Grant Information". Schools typically pay for this program through Character Education Grants or Safe and Drug Free School Grants. Other schools use money allocated for assemblies, or funds provided by their school's PTAs or PTOs.
